Fact I'm done hating on Chris after hearing this album
Oppinion These two albums should be nominated for album of the year or something (&thenrihannashouldwinlol)

I figure by now (since Christmas is over) everyone should have thier copy of Graffiti and of Rated R. two truly, truly AMAZING albums if you ask me. My praises go out to the writers and producers on these albums because these are deff chart toppers.

So let's talk about the Good Girl Gone Badass hehe. What I love about this album is that you're introduced to Rihanna in only a way she herself can reveal. The style hit before the singles, so ofcourse (like with the release of Umbrella and it's promo) everyone is like "Wtf is up with her hair? What is this look? Has she gone mad?!" Well, welcome to the mad house! There is no great genius without an element of madness. But back to the CD! Lol

If there were any doubts, about this being Rihanna* rather than a label front [Label Front : an image or style created to market an artist] - just check the credits. Not only did she write on about 6 of her 13 tracks (rough estimate, it's late and my CD is in the living room); she was also executive producer. If this album was a fruit, it would be a plum. That tangy, soury surface leading you to something sweet right after. Because that's her personality, that's Rihanna. A sentimental badass.
Favorites? G4L. Rude Boy. Firebomb. Hard. Stupid in Love.

*I honestly love all the songs on her album. Picking just 5 faves was hard!
&now onto Graffiti.
Another genius "comeback" album. Clearly the label knew exactly how to approach it, and Chris knew exactly how to deliver. One of the key things to marketing in the industry is to (ultimately) make sure you appeal to all if not most genres. All your songs don't have to be an international hit. However, if you can give everybody - pop, urban, dance, reggae - a taste of your music; you're sure to go platnium!
Honestly, the music on here is heart warming. Like I give Chris sooo much props for the delivery and emotion through (most of) the songs. Which is another key thing- picking the right writers. Although Chris doesn't have much writing credits on the album, you can tell his feelings were clearly communicated in the lyrics (Especially in the bonus track titled Graffiti) so you feel him and you get where he's coming from. Even on a song like "Gotta Be Your Man" (which he had writing cred on) where the lyrics are trashhhhhh, I can't help but love it. It's got the perfect formula for a good song which includes a catchy hook. So great job kid!

From a personal viewpoint, I'd say Rihanna's album is favored more. (7/10 prefer Rated R over Graffiti) I think it's mainly because her album is HER, vs Chris's album feeling like it's not his. But you have to understand, he basically has to start over (as his album promo commercial states). Which means the label will market him as appropriate, to put him back on top. & I say they're doing a fabulous job!

From a marketing point of view, Chris has definitely got Rihanna beat. And i think it's because the world sympathizes with him AND he appeals to all genres. I mean- he's even got a reggae song! Accent and all lol.
